MEDIA (PA) – The Delaware Valley University women's volleyball team traveled to Media, PA to faceoff against Penn State Brandywine and shutout the Nittany Lions, 3-0. Set scores were 25-17, 25-22 and 25-21.
It was second time that the Aggies (3-11, 0-2 MAC Freedom) upended Brandywine (5-12, 4-1 PSUAC) this season as they earned a 3-2 triumph at home back on September 9. Today's victory also marked the first for interim head coach
Patrick Klingerman.
DelVal opened the first set by scoring eight of the first nine points. Junior
Krista Hiller had three kills in an eight-point run. The Aggies never surrendered the lead as they rolled to a 25-17 win.
DelVal fell behind early in the second set, but was able to overcome a 10-3 deficit and tie the game at 19 apiece on a
Tara Moffa service ace. Green registered a kill for the decisive point, and a 2-0 lead.
The third set of the day had several major swings as the Aggies trailed early, 10-4, but found a way to battle back with 16 of the next 19 points for a 20-13 advantage. Despite pressure from the Nittany Lions, DelVal was able to hold on for a 25-21 victory and a 3-0 shutout.
The Aggies had 31 kills with double-digits in the final two sets. Reiley Green lead the way for DelVal with 10 kills, and Moffa was not far behind with nine. Moffa also had four service aces.
Jess Ellick finished the game with three service aces, one kill, and a team-him 13 digs.
Jules Campbell finished the match with one kill, three digs and a game-high two solo blocks.
DelVal will host Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) rival Wilkes University tomorrow, October 2 at 7 p.m.
