Box Score DOYLESTOWN (Pa.) – The Delaware Valley University women's basketball team dug itself into an early hole and could not climb out, as it dropped a 56-45 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom contest at Wilkes University on Wednesday night.

The Aggies (8-10, 2-5 MAC Freedom) were outscored 17-6 in the first quarter with three field goals. They bounced-back to outscore the Colonels (7-10, 3-4 MAC Freedom), 11-10, in the second stanza and trailed
by 10 points at the half.

Wilkes extended its lead to 39-19 in the third quarter, but DelVal closed the quarter with an 11-0 run to make it a 39-30 game going into the fourth. Sarah Wills led the spurt with five points on a transition layup and a trey.

Emily Kutskel started the final quarter with an offensive rebound and put-back, to cut the Aggies' deficit to seven, but Wilkes countered with the next five points to regain the double-digit advantage.

DelVal stayed within striking distance as it trailed by nine, 47-38, after another Kutskel layup with under five minutes to go. However, the Colonels went on a 9-3 run over to 4:24 to seal the MAC Freedom victory.

Kutskel, Wills and Dom Moser each scored eight points and Amber Grohowski and Lauren Moretti pitched in with six apiece. The Aggies had 16 steals as a team, led by six from Moretti, four from Moser and three for Wills. Kutskel led the team on the glass with 13 rebounds and also recorded four blocked shots.

Wilkes placed three players in double-figures including Maddie Kelly who led the way with 12 points. Gab Giordano recorded a double-double with 10 points and 14 boards to go with four assists, and Gianna Roberts finished with 11 points and seven rebounds.

DelVal will continue its slate of MAC Freedom contests with a road game at Manhattanville College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
