DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Muhlenberg College scored four second half goals on its way to a 5-0 road victory over the Delaware Valley University women's soccer team.
The Aggies fell to 1-2 while the Mules upped their mark to 2-0-1 on the season.
The start off the game was delayed an hour, 25 minutes due to lightning and finally started just before 8:30 p.m. with rain still falling. Muhlenberg got on the board in the 25th minute when a good ball was played into the box for Cortney Blake and a touch pass to Mia Mulin setup a strike to the lower right corner for a 1-0 lead.
DelVal's best opportunity in the half came from a corner kick, but it could not generate a shot on goal.
The duo of Blake and Mulin combined early in the second half to double the Mules lead. Once again it was Mulin from 18 yards out finding the far corner. Less than five minutes later Danni Steigerwald put a shot on goal and the rebound landed on the foot of Isabel Schwartz to make it 3-0 with 38:14 still to play. Schwartz got her second of the game in the 65th minute to extend the lead to 4-0.
Lindsay Scott added a nifty head ball goal late in the game off a cross from Bianca Capozzi for the 5-0 final.
The Aggies were out shot 19-3 and had one corner opportunity to Muhlenberg's three.
DelVal will travel for its next game at Immaculata University on next Wednesday, September 12 at 4 p.m.
