Volleyball's Win Streak Halted By Rutgers - Camden

DOYLESTOWN (PA) – The Delaware Valley University volleyball team had its two-match win streak snapped on Thursday night as visiting Rutgers – Camden earned a 3-0 victory.

The Scarlet Raptors improved to 2-4 on the season while the Aggies dropped to 2-3.

In the first game, DelVal took an early 3-2 lead after a kill by Courtney Campbell, but Rutgers – Camden responded with a 13-6 run to open up a 15-8 lead. Aggies' senior Kayla Bracken scored the next five points of the game, including four straight service aces to pull the squad within two, 15-13. However, the Scarlet Raptors finished the game with a 10-2 run to take game one, 25-15.

Rutgers-Camden got out to a 17-2 advantage in game two and did not look back, en route to a 25-6 triumph and two game advantage.

DelVal fell behind 5-2 in game three, but bounced-back to pull within one at 13-12. The Scarlet Raptors countered with five straight points behind the serving of Savannah Hayes to pull ahead by six points.

The Aggies got to within three points of tying the game down the stretch, but it was not enough as Rutgers-Camden pulled away with a 25-19 game three victory and a 3-0 match victory.

Bracken led DelVal with eight kills and four service aces to go with seven digs. Danielle McKelvey paced the team with 10 assists and eight digs. Campbell finished with three kills and three digs.

The Scarlet Raptors were led by Jamie Mulligan's nine kills followed by Nicole Long's four. Brinn Hassan led all players with 11 assists and five service aces.

The Aggies will play their first Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom match when the host Misericordia University next Wednesday at 7 p.m.
