DOYLESTOWN (PA) – The Delaware Valley University volleyball team opened Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom play on Wednesday night, but fell to visiting Misericordia University, 3-0.
The Cougars (7-2, 1-0 MAC Freedom) opened game one with a 3-0 lead that they never relinquished, en route to the 25-17 win.
The Aggies (2-4, 0-1 MAC Freedom) fell behind early in game two, but climbed out of a four-point hole to pull with two, 6-4, after a service ace by
Kayla Bracken. Misericordia closed game two with an 11-2 run to win, 25-12.
In the final game, DelVal used a 6-1 run to tie the game at seven apiece behind the serving of
Samantha Nields and two kills by
Alexis Sideris. However, the Cougars had runs of 7-0, 5-0 and 4-0 late in the game to earn a 25-13 win and 3-0 match victory.
Bracken led the Aggies with 13 digs and eight kills followed by five kills for Sideris and four from
Laura Sweger.
Danielle McKelvey dished out 15 assists and two blocks. Nields and Sweger also finished with two blocks apiece.
DelVal will head to Cheyney University of Pennsylvania on Friday for a 7 p.m. non-conference affair.
