Men's Soccer Drops MAC Freedom Opener At Wilkes

EDWARDSVILLE (PA) – The Delaware Valley University men's soccer team kicked off Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom play on Saturday afternoon, but dropped a 3-1 decision to host Wilkes University.

The Colonels improved to 5-3-1 on the year and 1-0 in MAC Freedom play while the Aggies fell to 3-7 and 0-1.

Wilkes scored early in the first half and again late in the stanza to take a 2-0 lead at the break. In the eighth minute, Jeffrey Eager-Heffner took a pass from Camry Huff and banged it home. Then, with less than a minute left before the end of the half, Andrew Reichard sent a corner kick into the box and Shane Henehan got a head on it to make it a two-goal game.

The Colonels tacked on another in the opening minutes of the second half as Huff fed Eager-Heffner again to make it 3-0.

In the 56th minute, the Aggies got on the board via an own-goal against Wilkes but they could not muster anymore offense as the Colonels took the 3-1 conference victory.

DelVal will have a week off before taking to the road for another conference game at Manhattanville College next Saturday, October 6 at 1 p.m.
