PURCHASE (NY) – The Delaware Valley University men's soccer team played its second consecutive Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom game on the road on Saturday afternoon, but it was host Manhattanville College that won a 3-0 decision.
The Valiants upped their record to 8-3 overall and 1-1 in league play while the Aggies fell to 3-8 and 0-2.
Manhattanville got on the board in the opening minute of the game when Johnny Arauz accepted a long throw in from Alexander Juma and let a shot go from the top of the box that found the back of the net. Nearly 11 minutes later, Arauz struck again, this time off a corner play. Marius Nicolaysen sent the corner kick into the box and M. Jean-Charles headed it back across the box where Arauz put it home to make it 2-0.
The score remained 2-0 at the half and Manhattanville tacked on one more early in the second for the 3-0 final.
DelVal finished the game with six shots, three on goal, and
Josh Jarrett made eight saves in goal for the Aggies.
The Aggies will play their first home MAC Freedom game on Tuesday, October 9 against FDU-Florham at 4 p.m.
