DOYLESTOWN (PA) – A thunderstorm delayed the game for an hour and 25 minutes in the second half and visiting Cabrini University held on to an early 2-0 lead to earn a non-conference victory over the Delaware Valley University men's soccer team.
The Cavaliers improved improved to 3-5-1 overall while the Aggies slipped to 3-6.
Cabrini got on the board in the 13
th minute when Dani Acevedo fed John Griffin in the box and he put a shot to the lower right corner for a 1-0 lead. Eight minutes later, James Pettus made it a two-goal lead in the 32
nd minute.
DelVal had four shots on goal in the second half, including a
Nick Miller shot from in close that was chipped over the keeper, but knocked away at the goal line by a Cavalier defender. Cabrini get the Aggies off the board and held on for the 2-0 win.
Josh Jarrett recorded three saves in goal for DelVal and the offense notched four shots on goal while Anthony Zampirri made three saves in net for the Cavaliers and the team managed five shots on goal.
The Aggies will begin Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom play on Saturday at Wilkes University at 1 p.m.
