SELLINGSGROVE (PA) – Alee Pettit scored twice for host Susquehanna University in a 2-0 triumph over visiting Delaware Valley University in a non-conference affair on Tuesday night.
The Riverhawks (7-1-1) earned a corner kick early in the game and Pettit got two shots off, the first was blocked by the defense, but the second found the back of the net to make it a 1-0 game just five minutes in.
The Aggies (3-5) came back down the other end and
Taylor Boyer got a shot on goal, but Susquehanna keeper Madison Welliver was equal to the task. That was the only shot on goal that DelVal registered in the game as the Riverhawks defense settled in the rest of the way.
The game remained 1-0 at halftime, but Pettit got her second of the game 12:23 into the second stanza.
Haley Young made nine saves in goal for the Aggies and Welliver recorded one at the other end.
DelVal will have its first Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom test of the season on Saturday when they travel to play Wilkes University at 3:30 p.m.
