Aggie Field Hockey Opens Conference Play With Home Loss To King's

DOYLESTOWN (PA) – King's College scored three times in a four-minute span in the second half as the Monarchs notched a 3-0 shutout over host Delaware Valley University in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom opener for both teams.

King's improved to 5-4 overall while the Aggies fell to 5-2.

The Monarchs held a 10-5 advantage in shots in the first half, including six on goal, but DelVal keeper Kita Konerth was there to record five saves. Her defense picked up a save as well as Sadie Strober was there to stop a shot behind Konerth 12 minutes into the contest.

The Aggies came out flying to start the second half as they recorded the first four shots of the stanza. The game remained scoreless 53-plus minutes in when King's earned a corner opportunity. Off the corner, the ball found its way to Kelley O'Keefe who slide a pass to Jolee Treslar for her fourth goal of the season.

The Monarchs made it 2-0 with 14:15 left as Treslar received a crossing pass from Kelsey Gabrielle and had a wide-open net to shoot on. Eighty-three seconds later, it was O'Keefe again as she put home a rebound off a shot by Treslar.

King's finished the night with advantages of 18-9 in shots and 8-3 in corners. Brianne Maluda played nearly 60 minutes in goal and stopped five shots. Konerth had eight saves for DelVal while Strober and Aimee MacFarland were credited with defensive saves.

The Aggies will travel to Marywood University for a non-conference game on Wednesday, September 26.
