SCRANTON (PA) – Marywood University notched the first three goals of the games, en route to a 3-1, non-conference triumph over visiting Delaware Valley University.
The win improved the Paces to 6-3 while the Aggies dropped to 5-3.
Gwyneth Gleason scored the first of her two goals in the game exactly 11 minutes in off a tap pass from Angela Sanchez. It stayed 1-0 for nearly 18 minutes until Linsdey Gladden had an unassisted tally with 7:10 to go before halftime.
Marywood needed just 110 seconds into the second half to make it 3-0 as Gleason stole the ball and lifted a shot over the DelVal goalkeeper
Rosie Bishop. The Aggies avoided the shutout with 9:01 remaining as
Gillian Nardelli took a pass from
Jess Dixon and knocked it in from the right side for her third goal of the year.
The Pacers held advantages of 15-7 in shots and 5-2 in corners. Bishop recorded six saves in the loss while a pair of Marywood goalkeepers combined for four stops.
DelVal will return to action on Saturday, September 29 (1 p.m.) when it travels to DeSales University for a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom battle.
