DOYLESTOWN (PA) – The Delaware Valley University volleyball team hosted non-conference foe Cedar Crest College on Thursday night, but dropped the decision in three games. Scores were 25-15, 25-20, and 25-14.
The Falcons improved to 6-2 overall while the Aggies regressed to 3-6.
Cedar crest jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first game and led by as many as 11 en route to the opening-set victory.
DelVal struck first in the second game, but the Falcons scored six straight points to take a 9-3 lead. The Aggies got the next four points behind the serving of Samantha Nields to pull within two. With the Falcons holding at game-point, DelVal scored three straight points to make it a 24-20 game, but could not get any closer.
In the final game, Cedar Crest jumped out to a 6-1 lead and never relinquished it on its way to the 25-14 game and match victory.
Kayla Bracken and Danielle McKelvey combined for 12 of the team's 19 kills in the match, with seven and five respectively. McKelvey led the way with 14 digs and 11 assists and Bracken had two service aces.
Lindsey Davis recorded a match-high eight kills for the Falcons as they recorded 29 as a team. Davis also paced the squad with 18 digs while Talia Watson recorded 11 assists followed by Madison Flatt's 10.
The Aggies will host another non-conference opponent on Tuesday, September 25 when they welcome Gwynedd Mercy College for a 7 p.m. start.
