DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Delaware Valley University scored five times in the first half and cruised to a 6-0 blanking of visiting Penn State Hazleton on Monday.
The Aggies got back to the .500 mark at 3-3 while the Nittany Lions fell to 1-4.
It was all DelVal as the team outshot Penn State Hazleton, 31-6, including 25-3 in a dominant opening 45 minutes. The Aggies got all the scoring they needed 16:04 in as
Patrick McCarthy sent Billy Frazier, Jr. in on a breakaway and he connected for the 1-0 lead.
Another breakaway made it 2-0 with 12:36 left in the half as
Nick Miller got behind the defense off a great lead pass from
Austin Daniels. Four minutes later, Miller set up freshman
Evan Rapp for a blast and his first collegiate goal. Miller then made it a four-point evening for himself as his rebound was put into the back of the net by
Giovanni Million with 4:35 remaining before the intermission. Million then set up junior
Ryan Dengler with 2:25 to go for a 5-0 lead. It was Dengler's first collegiate goal.
DelVal's lone tally in the second half came 7:45 in as
Nick Gaetano crossed a pass into the box and freshman
Patrick Lawler was there to score his first collegiate goal
Josh Jarrett needed to make one save to pick up the shutout. Jean-Louis Sunther had 10 stops for Penn State Hazleton.
The Aggies will head to Owings Mills, Maryland to take on Stevenson University for a non-conference game on Wednesday, September 19.
