DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Rosemont College notched a goal in each half as the Ravens posted a 2-0, non-conference triumph at a soggy Delaware Valley University.
The win was the first in four tries for Rosemont this year while the Aggies fell to 2-2.
The teams played through a constant downpour on Wednesday evening, but the conditions did not slow down the speed of the Ravens' Kareem Devenish as he raced to a long pass from Christian Rafter and had a breakaway. He slid a shot past DelVal goalkeeper
Billy Moyer for a 1-0 lead with 29:13 left in the first half. Joshua Mason had a similar attempt for Rosemont 12 minutes earlier, but he hit the post.
It was a one-goal game for the next 68 minutes until Alioune Sy took a pass from Sal Turelli and put a low shot into the net from 15 yards out for the insurance tally.
DelVal, which controlled play for most of the second half, held an 18-12 advantage in shots for the game.
Patrick Lawler,
Patrick McCarthy and
Andre Permyashkin led the way with three attempts apiece. Both teams had just one corner opportunity. Moyer had four saves for the Aggies while Grant Gonzalez made five saves, en route to the shutout.
The Aggies will host Shenandoah University for a non-conference game on Friday, September 14 (4 p.m.)
