Aggie Men's Soccer Opens Season With 1-0 Win At Yeshiva

RIDGEFIELD PARK (NJ) – Andre Permyashkin scored with 6:56 remaining as the Delaware Valley University men's soccer team opened its 2018 season with a 1-0 shutout at Yeshiva University on Friday.

Permyashkin's goal came on the 18th shot of the game for the Aggies. The play began with freshman Joey Indelicato serving a ball into the box to junior Austin Daniels. Daniels pushed it back to Permyashkin, and the junior finished it by putting the ball past Maccaabee goalkeeper Edgar Schottland for the 1-0 lead.

Meanwhile, the DelVal defense took care of the rest as it did not permit a shot the rest of the way. In fact, Yeshiva went without a shot for the final 40 minutes and 19 seconds of the game and had just seven attempts on the day.

The Aggies dominated the first 27 minutes of the contest, outshooting the Maccabees by a 7-2 margin. Yeshiva did have a great opportunity early on, but DelVal goalkeeper Josh Jarrett was there for a great save down his left hand.

Yeshiva had three of the game's next four shots as the teams were scoreless heading into the intermission. Jarrett was credited with the one save while Schottland had four saves at the other end.

Yeshiva had the first three shots of the second stanza but that was it for them. The Aggies kept the pressure on the rest of the way and won the game on Permyashkin's late tally.

Jarrett, a sophomore transfer, picked up the shutout in his first game in a DelVal uniform. Schottland had nine saves in the loss for the Maccabees.

The Aggies will travel to Clarks Summit University for another non-conference game on Tuesday, September 4.
