Aggie Baseball Falls Twice At DeSales

CENTER VALLEY (PA) – DeSales University took the first two games of a three-game, Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom series with Delaware Valley University as the host Bulldogs swept the Saturday twinbill, 7-2 and 6-2.

DeSales upped its record to 20-12 overall and 13-3 in the conference while the Aggies fell to 8-16 and 3-9. The teams will meet at DelVal for a nine inning single game on Tuesday, April 24.

In the opener, Jeremy Hefele allowed just two earned runs over six innings, but was hurt by three Aggie errors in the field. The miscues took place over the first two stanzas as the Bulldogs built a 6-0 lead.

DelVal got on the board in the sixth, thanks to a two-run single by Luke Hendricks that knocked in Ben Lippincott and Timmy Lallis. Hendricks had two of the Aggies' five hits in the opener.

Ian Kacergis picked up the win for DeSales as he allowed two runs and four hits over six innings. Preston Amata was 3-for-3 and scored two runs.

In the nightcap, the Bulldogs built a 6-0 lead with single runs in the third, fourth and sixth innings and three runs in the fifth. DelVal got its tallies in the top of the seventh on a sacrifice fly by Jeremy Stewart and a run-scoring single by Tom Crooks. Crooks and Lippincott had two hits apiece. Cal Endy took the loss.

The Aggies will travel to Wilkes University for a MAC Freedom doubleheader on Sunday.
