Imes Inches Closer To 100 Goals, Aggie Women's Lax Falls To FDU-Florham

DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Defending Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom champion FDU-Florham scored the first seven goals of the game, en route to a 17-2 triumph over host Delaware Valley University on Friday evening.
 
The win upped the Devils' record to 11-4 overall and a perfect 5-0 in league action. The Aggies dropped to 4-8 and 0-5.
 
FDU-Florham picked up the seven goals in the first 15 minutes of the contest. Caitlyn Damon and Kathleen Petrucelli combined for five of the tallies.
 
DelVal got on the scoreboard with 11:21 remaining in the half as, on a man-up situation, Claire Gamache forced a turnover and then fed senior Kara Imes in front for a goal. The Devils responded with four goals in a four-minute span and they took an 11-1 lead into the intermission.
 
FDU-Florham upped the advantage to 17-1 before Imes got a free position attempt and scored with 55 ticks left. The senior is now just three away from the 100-goal plateau for her career and she has two games left to accomplish the feat.
 
Imes' two goals came on three shots as the team racked up 13 shots in the game. She also had two draw controls. Gamache had an assist, two caused turnovers and two ground balls. Alex Bukeavich, Courtney Knight and Janee' Rhone also had two ground balls apiece. Amanda Dietrich made nine saves in net.
 
The Devils amassed 35 shots on the evening and was a perfect 15-for-15 in clear attempts. Damon finished with four goals and one assists while Petrucelli had three goals and two helpers. Caroline Paper added two goals and five draw controls. Megan Nemeth and Erin Gill combined for six saves.
 
DelVal will take on MAC Freedom foe Wilkes University in the home finale on Tuesday, April 24 (4 p.m.).
