WILKES BARRE (PA) – The Delaware Valley University women's lacrosse team made a valiant second half comeback to tie the game, but it was host King's College that scored late to earn the 7-6 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom victory.
The Lady Monarch's improved to 5-9 overall and 2-2 in the MAC Freedom and the Aggies dropped to 4-7 and 0-4.
Amanda Carroll scored two goals in the first 10 minutes to give King's an early two goal advantage. Anastasia Araviakis made it 3-0 with her 50
th goal of the season and 18:10 left in regulation.
A minute, 35 seconds later, DelVal got on the board when

Amanda McKeegan for her 24
th tally of the season.
The Lady Monarch's then got two quick goals, just 21 seconds apart, both from Sarah Almony to go up 5-1. The teams exchanged tally's the rest of the first half and King's took a 6-3 lead into the locker room.
The Aggies came out in the second half and were stubborn defensively and scored three straight goals to tie the game at 6-6 with just over 22 minutes left in regulation. McKeegan got her third of the day during the spurt that was bookended with goals by Janee Rhone.
Neither team scored over the next 17 minutes until King's broke through for what would ultimately be the game-winner. It was Araviakis that sealed the 7-6 win with her third of the day. DelVal had three more shots down the stretch, but Orla Cottell came up big to keep the ball out of the net.
Araviakis added two assists to finish with a game-high five points while adding six ground balls, five draw controls, and four caused turnovers. Cottell made 19 saves in net.
The Aggies had 25 shots on goal for the game compared to 20 for King's and they held a 9-7 edge in draw controls. McKeegan had three points on three goals and Teliszewski had three points on three assists. Rhone had two goals to go with four ground balls, two caused turnovers and two draw controls.
Courtney Knight led the team with five ground balls and
Amanda Dietrich made 13 saves in net.
DelVal will look to bounce-back at home on Friday night at 6 p.m. against MAC Freedom foe FDU-Florham.
