Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Aggie Women's Lacrosse Falls At Hood

FREDERICK (MD) – The Delaware Valley University women's lacrosse team suffered its first loss of the season as the Aggies dropped a 14-10, non-conference decision at Hood College.

DelVal fell to 2-1 while the Blazers won for the third time in four outings.

Hood scored the first four goals of the game and never trailed. The four tallies came in the opening 15 minutes before DelVal's Kara Imes broke the spurt with a goal off a free position shot. The Blazers extended their advantage to as many as five before taking an 8-4 lead into halftime.

The two teams exchanged goals to start the second stanza. DelVal then connected three times in a span of 3:50 to trail by just one, 9-8. Freshman Claire Gamache picked up the first two tallies while Amanda McKeegan followed with the other.

However, that was as close as the Aggies would come as Hood countered with a 3-0 spurt of its own to bump its advantage back to four and it eventually finished with the 14-10 triumph.

Kara Phoubandith and Rachel Slater led the Blazers with three goals apiece. Samy Brandt had six of the team's 20 ground balls and goalkeeper Rylie Benoit-Nobis stopped 10 shots.

For DelVal, Gamache finished with three goals, five draw controls and four ground balls. Imes had a three-point showing thanks to two tallies and one assist and she also added eight draw controls. Janee' Rhone had a goal and two helpers while McKeegan and Taylor Teliszewski netted two goals apiece. For Teliszewski, the two points upped the senior's career total to 98 as she looks to become the second player in program history to reach the 100-point plateau. Amanda Dietrich recorded 11 saves in the loss.

The Aggies will host Alvernia University for a non-conference game on Saturday, March 10 (1 p.m.).
