Men's Lacrosse Drops Home Opener To McDaniel

DOYLESTOWN (PA) – The Delaware Valley University men's lacrosse team opened the gates to Robert A. Lipinski field for the first time this season, but it was McDaniel College who spoiled the home-opener with a 17-4 victory.

The Aggies (0-4) trailed by two after seven minutes of play before Jordan Smith walked in and ripped a shot to the top-left part of the net from 10-yards out for his first of the year and a 2-1 game.

The Green Terror (5-2) scored two more times before the end of the first quarter to take a three goal lead into the second. They added three more goals in the second and held DelVal off the board until P.J. Rafferty dodged to the middle and beat the keeper with 1:20 left in the half. The score remained 7-2 going into the second.

McDaniel scored nine unanswered goals in the second half to pull away with the 17-4 win.

Dylan Brasch and Matt Hardy scored for the Aggies in the second with Brasch setting up Brady for the fourth goal. Brasch led DelVal with two points, 10 shots and four ground balls. Three other Aggies had four ground balls including Alex Hardy who led the team with five caused turnovers, and Jerad Wilson who followed with four caused turnovers.

Micah Brooks, Devon Maranto and Jared Payne each had four points to lead the Green Terror while Carson Marshall finished with three. Eight other players notched at least one point and long-pole Jack Myers led all players with nine ground balls.
