NORFOLK (VA) – The Delaware Valley University women's lacrosse team traveled down to Norfolk, Va. to take one Virginia Wesleyan College in a non-conference game, but fell to the Marlins 13-6.
The Aggies dropped to 3-2 overall while Virginia Wesleyan improved to 4-1.
DelVal opened the scoring 8:18 into the game as freshman
Claire Gamache got her fourth of the season.
The Marlins then went on a 7-0 run to close the half and take a six-goal lead into the break. Avery Frangelli scored three straight goals during the spurt.
Amanda McKeegan and
Kara Imes each scored to start the second half and make it a 7-3 game with over 26 minutes left in regulation.
Virginia Wesleyan outscored DelVal 6-3 the rest of the way including three straight, two by Liza Holford, to pull away with the 13-6 home victory. Holford led all players in the game with four goals and five points. Frangelli followed with a four-point game and four other players registered two-points. Jordan Mollanen made nine saves in the win.
The Aggies were led by Imes two goals and seven draw controls and
Janee' Rhone had two points on a goal and an assist and
Taylor Teliszewski picked up her 13
th goal of the year.
Amanda Dietrich made 13 saves in goal.
DelVal will be back in action on Saturday, March 24 when it hosts Wesley College in the Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer game at 1 p.m.
