ABINGTON (PA) – Penn State Abington notched the lone tally of the game 12 minutes into the second half as the Nittany Lions blanked visiting Delaware Valley University, 1-0, in a Wednesday's non-conference game.
Penn State Abington (3-6-2) had the first four shots of the game before the Aggies (3-7) got off their lone shot in the first half. Then in the second, the Nittany Lions, who hit a post less than two minutes earlier, scored as Pam Blesi found an open Taylor Perkowski in the right corner of the box for the 1-0 lead.
DelVal had four shots over the final 32-plus minutes, but could not notch the tying the goal. The Aggies did have a 3-2 advantage in corners as well as five of the game's 12 shots, including two by
Serena Zilli.
Haley Young played 69-plus minutes in net for the Aggies and had one save. Samantha Friend also had one stop at the other end.
DelVal will travel to Manhattanville College for a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom game on Saturday, October 6 (4 p.m.).
