DALLAS (PA) -- Misercordia University celebrated its Senior Day with a 4-2 victory over Delaware Valley University in a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom game.
The Cougars (3-12, 2-4) never trailed as they scored the lone goal of the first half with 7:28 remaining on Brynn Lagenderfer's tally. They went up 2-0 five minutes into the second stanza on a goal by Jenna Whitman.
The Aggies (5-10, 0-6) cut their deficit in half with 20:04 remaining as freshman
Sadie Strober notched her first collegiate goal off a feed in front by
Mackenzie Harper.
Misericordia went up by two on a Kyleigh Knell goal with 14:51 left on the clock. DelVal made it a 3-2 contest just 66 seconds later when
Jess Dixon got her second tally of the year off an
Ashley Smith assist. The Aggies pressed for the game-tying goal, but the Cougars' Haley Gruber iced the game with a goal with 36 seconds left.
Misericordia held advantages of 14-8 in shots and 11-4 in corners.
Kita Konerth made six saves for DelVal, which will host MAC Freedom foe Eastern University for Senior Day on Wednesday, October 24 (4 p.m.).
