DOYLESTOWN (PA) – The Delaware Valley University women's soccer team hosted 12
th ranked Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom foe Misericordia University for a homecoming affair on Saturday afternoon, but fell to the Cougars, 6-0.
Misericordia (10-2-1, 4-0 MAC Freedom) came into the game ranked number 12 in all of Division III and having made the NCAA tournament seven consecutive years. The Cougars got all the offense they would need in this one with two goals from Ashley Edgell in a span of 19 seconds. Edgell capitalized on feeds from Jeanna Orfanos and Ashley Edgall for her seventh and eighth goals of the season.
Misericordia tacked on one more in the 32
nd minute to take a 3-0 lead at the break. In the second half, Mackenzie Love and Sara Lockwood found the back of the net to make it 5-0 before Gabby Babula converted a penalty kick for the 6-0 final score.
Haley Young started the game in goal for the Aggies and made nine saves while
Madelyne Medina came on in relief and played the final 16 minutes. She made three saves and surrendered two goals including the penalty kick.
DelVal will resume MAC Freedom play on Tuesday at Eastern University with a 3:30 p.m. tip.
