Aggie Field Hockey Falls To Wilkes On Homecoming

DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Wilkes scored four unanswered goals to erase an early deficit and down host Delaware Valley University, 4-1, in a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom game on Friday night.

The Colonels improved to 7-7 overall and 3-1 in league play while the Aggies fell to 5-8 and 0-4.

DelVal struck less than four minutes in the game as, off a corner opportunity, Madi Colon put a rebound into the cage for her fifth goal of the season. Jess Dixon was awarded the assist.

Wilkes tied the game with 14:06 left in the opening half as a scramble in front result in an Ali Dunn goal off a Maddie Kelley assist. Then with 2:22 to go before the intermission, Kelley had a point shot stopped by Aggie goalkeeper Kita Konerth, but the rebound went back to Kelley who slid it to Cheyenne Mazzocca for the goal and a 2-1 advantage.

The Colonels put the game away by scoring two times in a three-minute span in the second half. First it was a blast by Haley Gayoski seven minutes into the stanza and it was quickly followed by another tally Dunn.

Both teams had 11 shots while the Aggies had a 6-4 edge in corners. Konerth and Wilkes goalkeeper Dallas Kendra had four saves apiece.

DelVal will travel to FDU-Florham for a MAC Freedom game on Wednesday, October 17 (7 p.m.).
