DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Delaware Valley University scored two late goals, but could not complete the comeback as visiting Wilkes University held on for the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom victory, 3-2.
The loss dropped the Aggies to 3-5 overall and 0-1 in league games while the Colonels improved to 5-5 and 1-0.
DelVal trailed Wilkes by three goals late in the second half before making a last-ditch comeback effort.
Andre Permyashkin began the charge with a nice header that he flicked into the far post off a throw-in by
Sam Dibella to make it 3-1 in the 78
th minute.

Nick Miller re-directed a throw in and
Austin Daniels let a shot go off the first bounce and it found twine cut the deficit to one in the waning seconds. The Aggies hurried to the tip, but could not forge another shot as the Colonels escaped with the 3-2 victory.
The Colonels started the scoring in the first half when Kyle Bentz beat the DelVal keeper to a loose ball and deposited it in the back of the net just 17:45 into regulation.
Wilkes extended its' lead in the second half after an Aggies' own-goal in the 58
th minute and less than 10 minutes later, it stretched the lead to three on Camry Huff's eighth goal of the season.
DelVal was outshot 19-5 in the game with each squad earning three corner kicks.
Connor Hedgepeth made nine saves in goal and Permyashkin registered three points on a goal and an assist. For Daniels, it was his first goal of the season and second as an Aggie.
Two keepers split time in goal for Wilkes as Tim Gallagher played 75 minutes without recording a save, but earned the win. Stephen Johnson played the remaining 15 minutes and made one save while allowing two goals.
DelVal will have a quick turnaround as it prepares to host Penn State Hazelton on Monday (October 2) at 7 p.m.
