DelVal Men's Soccer Completes Comeback Against Visiting PSU-Hazleton

DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Evan Augsburger scored the game-winning goal in the 72nd minute to propel Delaware Valley University to a 2-1 non-conference win over visiting Penn State Hazleton on Monday evening.

The Aggies are now 3-0 against Penn State teams this year and improved their record to 4-5 overall for the season. The Lions dropped to 5-6 overall with the loss.

The first half saw back-and-forth action with DelVal recording five shots and Penn State, four. However, it was the Lions that capitalized with 6:27 left in the stanza as Steven Principe crossed a ball into the box and it went off an Aggie defender and into the net. It was credited as an own goal and the Lions took a 1-0 lead into halftime.

DelVal came out in the second half and controlled the pace with four shots in the first 15 minutes. It paid off as DelVal tied the score with 30:27 left in regulation on an own goal by Penn State. Andre Permyashkin drove the ball to the end line and sent a cross into the box, off a Lion defender, and into the net.

The Aggies maintained the momentum and found the game-winning goal when Sam Dibella let a shot go from in-tight that was saved, but the rebound caromed off Dibella and to the far post where Augsburger was waiting for the tap-in.

DelVal outshot the Lions 14-6 overall with an 8-6 edge in shots on goal and held a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks. Austin Daniels and Nick Miller each recorded three shots, two on goal and Hedgepeth made four saves in net.

Penn State's Principe got off three shots with two of them on target while Brandon Yocum played all 90 minutes in net and made six saves.

The Aggies will look to remain perfect against Penn State schools as it travels to Penn State – York on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. match.
