WARMINSTER (PA) – The Delaware Valley University men's golf team opened the fall portion of its 2017-18 season with a 342-356 loss to FDU-Florham at Five Ponds Golf Club on Tuesday.
A total of 13 golfers (eight DelVal, five FDU-Florham) hit the par 71, 6,325-yards course with the top four golfers from each team counting toward the team score. The Devils had the top scorers as Ryan Maslen and Brendan Demitus had rounds of 76 and 84 respectively.
The Aggies had six of the seven top scores following Masley and Demitus. Freshman
Ryan Obes shot a 14-over-par 85 while juniors
Colton Lesh and
Colin Casserly carded scores of 88 and 90 respectively. Sophomore
Eric Wimmer (92), freshman
Jared Hanson (93) and sophomore
Nathan Frick (94) were right behind as well. Freshmen
Mike Nuss (105) and
Noah Arrington (106) competed as well in their first collegiate matches.
FDU-Florham's remaining golfers were Tom Cashin (87), David Yale (95) and Zachary Eckert (104).
DelVal will compete at the Moravian College Invitational on Thursday, September 28 (12:30 p.m.) before hosting Arcadia University for a head-to-head match at Five Ponds on Friday, September 29 (1:40 p.m.).
