Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

DelVal Women's Soccer Downed By Drew

DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Drew University scored five first-half goals, en route to a 7-2, non-conference victory over host Delaware Valley University on Saturday afternoon.

The Rangers upped their mark to 4-2 while the Aggies slipped to 1-4-1.

Drew scored two goals in the first four-plus minutes and never looked back. The first came on a blast by Alex Gilgorri and she then assisted on Sarah Racine's tally. Racine made it 3-0 midway through the opening half while Alexa Simon and Alexa Fitzgerald scored 55 seconds apart late in the stanza for a 5-0 advantage.

The Rangers got their second-half output from Jenna Chierchio with 27:29 left and Jessica Cortez with 22: 54 to go.

Just fifty-four seconds after Cortez scored, Drew was called for a handball in the box, resulting in a penalty kick for the Aggies. Junior Kylie Williams stepped up and the 2016 all-conference honoree put the shot off the left post and in.

Williams got her second of the game and the season as she took a short feed from Emily Davis and blasted a long shot off the hands of the keeper and into the net with 11 seconds to go. DelVal nearly had two other goals in the contest as a Samantha Greim shot in the first half was deflected by the goalie and then off the post. A similar shot came in the second as Tessa Coleman put one off the goalie's hand and off the crossbar.

Drew had advantages of 24-11 in shots and 6-0 in corners. Three keepers combined for six saves for the Rangers. Haley Young had nine saves in 70-plus minutes for the Aggies while fellow rookie Madelyne Medina went the rest of the way in net.

DelVal will travel to Washington College (Md.) for a non-conference game on Wednesday, September 20 (7 p.m.).
