DALLAS (PA) – The Delaware Valley University volleyball team opened up Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom play at Misericordia University on Wednesday, but fell three games to none. Set scores were 25-13, 25-19 and 25-14.
The Aggies fell to 0-3 overall and 0-1 in conference matches while the Cougars improved to 7-2 and 1-0.
Misericordia led wire-to-wire through the first two sets before DelVal got out to a 2-0 lead to start the third game. That game saw four ties, the last at 9-9, before the Cougars used a 12-4 run to take the game and the match.
Kayla Bracken led all players on the night with 10 kills and five blocks to go with six digs.
Kate Woolsey added five kills, six digs and one service ace while setter
Danielle McKelvey picked up 15 assists. Senior
Taylor Klecan had a match-high eight digs to go with three blocks. As a team, the Aggies held a 7-5 advantage in blocks.
Misericordia's setter Ariana Gagliardi led all players with 17 assists while Michelle Sehested led the squad with seven kills. As a team, the Cougars had 32 assists on 35 kills.
The Aggies will travel to Centenary University for a non-conference match tomorrow, September 14 at 7 p.m.
