DelVal Volleyball Drops 3-1 Decision At Cedar Crest

ALLENTOWN (PA) – Cedar Crest College notched 49 kills on the evening, en route to a 3-1 victory over visiting Delaware Valley University in a non-conference match. Set scores were 25-17, 25-27, 25-21 and 25-20.

The match was originally a home date for the Aggies (0-2), but they had to move it to Cedar Crest (4-1) due to construction delays on the new gymnasium bleachers.

The first set was tied at 16-16 before the Falcons pulled away for nine of the final 10 points. The second was a thriller that saw DelVal face four set points as it trailed 24-20. However, the Aggies scored five straight, including back-to-back aces from Alexis Sideris to take a one-point lead. Cedar Crest tied the set but a Kayla Bracken kills and Falcon hitting error gave DelVal the set to even the match up at 1-1.

The Falcons bounced back and never trailed in the third. In the fourth, the Aggies jumped out to an early lead but found themselves down 22-20. Cedar Crest then got the final three points to seal the win.

Bracken led DelVal with 11 kills and also tied for team-high honors in both digs (12) and blocks (3). She also added three service aces on the night. Taylor Klecan finished with seven kills and 12 digs while Kate Woolsey had six kills, 12 digs and four service aces. Sideris finished with three aces and seven digs while Danielle McKelvey's line include three kills, three blocks and 28 assists.

The trio of Devyn Crowder, Kailey Elrod and Nicole Hill combined for 36 of the Falcons' 49 kills. Elrod also had 13 digs while Crowder had 21 assists. Steph Barr added 19 assists while Tiffany Hoppes dugs out 27 balls.

DelVal will return right back to action on Wednesday, September 13 (7 p.m.) when it travels to Misericordia University to open up Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom play.
