GLENSIDE (PA) –
Samantha Greim came off the bench to score two goals and assist on another as Delaware Valley University picked up its first win of the year with a 5-0 blanking of Penn State Abington at the Arcadia University Invitational.
The Aggies (1-3) got all of the offense they would need 12 minutes into the first half as, off a corner opportunity,
Somer Meadath converted a
Sarah Young feed. It was the senior's first collegiate goal
It remained 1-0 until nearly three minutes into the second half when Greim picked up an assist on a
Kelly Hallman tally. It was the first collegiate goal for Hallman, a freshman.
DelVal then put the game away with three goals in an 11-minute span. The first was by junior
Tessa Coleman off a rebound with 14:32 remaining. Greim then made it 4-0 off an assist by Meadath with 7:12 remaining. Exactly, four minutes later, Greim went up the middle and the junior beat the goalkeeper for her second tally of the afternoon.
The Aggies held a commanding 22-6 advantage in shots over the Lions (0-3), including 12-1 in the second half. They also had nine of the game's 13 corner attempts. Freshman
Haley Young had one save, en route to her first win and shutout. Samantha Friend had 13 saves for Penn State Abington.
DelVal will have its home opener on Tuesday, September 12 (7 p.m.) when it hosts Immaculata University for a non-conference game.
