Moravian Men's Hoops Pulls Away To 85-69 Win Over DelVal

DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Moravian College outscored Delaware Valley University, 49-33, in the second half to pull away to an 85-69, non-conference road triumph on Wednesday.
 
The Greyhounds improved to 4-1 with the win while the Aggies saw their record fall to 1-6.
 
DelVal scored nine of the game's first 11 points for the early lead. Moravian came right back with nine straight and neither team had a lead greater than four during the rest of the half as the game was deadlocked at 26-26 at the break.
 
The teams exchanged baskets twice to start the second half, the ninth and 10th ties of the contest. The Greyhounds then went on an 8-2 spurt, all eight from Jimmy Murray, to take a 49-43 advantage. DelVal followed with seven of the next points, including a 3-pointer from Andre Butler that brought his squad to within one, 51-50, with 12:49 remaining.
 
However, the rest of the night belonged to Moravian, starting with a 13-4 run that put the lead into double digits. The Aggies got to within nine at 72-63, but the Greyhounds put it away with a 9-2 run and a 16-point advantage.
 
Moravian turned 28 DelVal turnovers into 31 points and also had a 23-8 advantage on second-chance points thanks to 18 offensive rebounds. Oneil Holder led all scorers with 20 points and he also added a team-high nine rebounds. Will Brazukas added 16 points while Murray finished with 15 points.
 
For the Aggies, Butler poured in 17 points and Joe Russell had a double-double with 14 points and 10 boards. Brandon Curry and Alex Matsinye had 13 points apiece in the loss.
 
DelVal returns to action on Wednesday, December 6 (7 p.m.) when it travels to Neumann University for a non-conference game.
