DOYLESTOWN (PA) – DeSales University scored five goals in the second half en route to an 8-0 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom triumph over visiting Delaware Valley University.
The Aggies fell to 2-12-1 overall and 0-5 in conference play. The Bulldogs improved to 9-6 overall and 4-1 in the MAC Freedom. With just one game remaining in league action, DeSales needs to earn just one more point to clinch a spot in the MAC Freedom postseason tournament.
Angelica Bertola lead the Bulldogs with four goals and one assist in the game and became the all-time leading scorer in program history in the process. The nine points is also a school single game record.
Bertola scored the first two goals of the game and finished her hat trick with the opening tally of the second half. All told, DeSales had 25 shots to DelVal's five and took all six corner kicks in the game.
Taylor Boyer and Kelly Hallman led the Aggies with two shots apiece. Keeper Madelyne Medina made her second consecutive start and notched eight saves.
The Bulldogs had five assists on the night, two each from Gabby Lucchese and Rachel Medlar and one from Bertola. Medlar added a goal to her totals while Sydney Amato amassed two tallies and Erin Crystal, one.
The Aggies have just two games remaining including a showdown with conference foe-Manhattanville on Saturday, October 21 at 12 p.m. The team will honor its seniors before the game with a Senior Day ceremony.
