DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Delaware Valley University celebrated its Senior Day on Homecoming, but it was visiting Misericordia University that came away with the 3-0, Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom victory.
The Aggies (5-9, 0-4 MAC Freedom) honored seniors
Carlie Baldus,
Kara Imes,
Sonya Laley and
Sierra Stine in a pre-game ceremony.
Misericordia (6-8, 3-1) controlled the play in the first half, outshooting the Aggies, 9-1, and having a 7-1 advantage in corners. The seventh corner resulted in a goal as Madison Granoski pounced on a rebound off a Kyleigh Knell shot and scored with 4:26 remaining.
DelVal had chances to tie the game midway through the second half as it had back-to-back corners. Baldus got a shot off the second corner, but it was stopped by the Cougars' Katelyn Campbell.
Seven minutes after that Aggie opportunity, Misericordia got an insurance goal as Knell scored with a blast off a corner. Granoski had an assist on that tally and added another one on Melanie Fry's goal with 4:54 to go.
The Cougars finished with advantages of 14-4 in shots and 11-6 in corners. Campbell had two saves for the shutout. Baldus had four of the shots for DelVal. Sophomore
