DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Delaware Valley University hosted Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom front runner King's College for a homecoming night-cap, but it was the visitors who scored early and often to earn a 4-0 victory.
The Aggies fell to 5-8 overall and 0-4 in the MAC Freedom while the Monarchs improved to 10-3-1 overall and remained perfect in league play through four contests.
King's scored on a corner kick just 1:16 into the game. Kevin Mazol sent the corner ball in and Will Brack, on the far post, got his head on it to open the scoring.
Each team totaled two shots on goal the rest of the first stanza. DelVal had a golden opportunity at the end of the half when
Austin Daniels let a strike go from the top of the box, but the Monarchs' keeper absorbed the save and the score remained 1-0 into the break.
12:18 into the second half, King's earned a penalty after a man was obstructed in the box. August Axtman took the kick and delivered past the keeper's left side to make it 2-0.
The Monarchs got their third set-play goal in the 68
th minute as John Waring was credited with the goal and Brendan Raab, the assist. Less than three minutes later, Zach Wolcott made it a four-goal game off an assist from Liam McLoughlin. Neither team scored the rest of the way as King's left Doylestown with the 4-0 win.
DelVal finished with four shots, two on goal compared to 15 shots and eight on goal for the Monarchs.
Connor Hedgepeth made three saves in goal while King's had three goalies combine for the shutout.
The Aggies have four games remaining, three are MAC Freedom contests, including their next match at DeSales University on Tuesday, October 17 at 3 p.m.
