Box Score EDWARDSVILLE (PA) – The Delaware Valley University men's soccer teamed opened Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom play with a 2-0 road loss to Wilkes University on a rainy Friday.
The Aggies dropped below the .500 mark overall as they fell to 4-5-1 while the Colonels improved to 3-7
Wilkes registered 15 shots in the first half, compared to three by DelVal, and it was the final shot that made its way into the net. Camry Huff sent a corner kick in the box and Austin Kubin was there to head it home just inside the right upper post with 4:28 remaining.
Midway through the second half, the Colonels were awarded a penalty shot. Michael Habrouck's attempt was stopped by Aggie goalkeeper
Connor Hedgepeth, but Habrouck was able to pounce on his own rebound and put it in the empty net for the 2-0 lead.
DelVal had a 9-7 shot advantage in the second stanza, but could not one past Tim Gallagher, who had four saves for the shutout. Hedgepeth recorded eight saves while his defense was credited for three stops as well.
The Aggies will travel to Gwynedd Mercy University for a non-conference game on Tuesday, October 4 (4 p.m.).
