Box Score DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Brad Jule registered a hat trick as the Penn State Brandywine men's soccer team posted a 4-1 triumph over host Delaware Valley University in non-conference action from Tuesday evening.
The Lions improved to 6-1 on the season while the Aggies saw their overall mark dip to 4-4-1.
Bill Walleekendeh gave Penn State Brandywine a 1-0 lead less than nine minutes in as he received a pass in the box from Mike Usher and finished it off for his 22
nd goal of the season.
Walleekendeh nearly made it 2-0 with 26:30 left in the first half, but he was stopped on a breakaway attempt by DelVal goalkeeper
Connor Hedgepeth. Two minutes later, the Aggie were awarded a penalty kick but Joe Opdenaker made a sprawling save on
Patrick McCarthy's attempt.
It remained 1-0 until 10 minutes into the second half when Jule made a long run down the right sideline, went into the box and lofted a shot over Hedgepeth. DelVal answered eight minutes later as McCarthy had a shot stopped, but
Zach Miller was there for the rebound and the goal that pulled the Aggies to within one.
However, just 81 seconds later, Jule let a long shot go that Hedgepeth caught, but he was over the goal line and it counted for a 3-1 Lions' lead. Jule completed his hat trick with a 55-yard shot that was drilled into the top corner of the net.
Penn State Brandywine had a 19-13 lead in shots. Hedgepeth stopped four shots while Opdenaker had eight saves at the other end.
DelVal will open Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom play on Friday, September 30 when it travels to Wilkes University.
