Box Score HAZLETON (PA) –
Nick Miller's first-half goal was the lone tally of the game as Delaware Valley University blanked host Penn State Hazleton, 1-0, in a non-conference men's soccer match-up on Saturday.
The victory put the Aggies over the .500 mark at 4-3-1 while the Lions fell to 4-4.
The goal came with 7:34 left in the stanza and it started with
Max Drummond controlling the ball in Penn State Hazleton's end. He found
Austin Daniels on the left side and Daniels slid a pass across to Miller. With a defender and the goalie around him, Miller touched the ball to the left and tapped it through for his fourth goal of the year and his second game-winning tally.
Both teams had 10 shots in the game with five coming in each half. Penn State Hazleton had two shots in the final two-plus minutes, but one was blocked in front and the other went wide right as the Aggies preserved the shutout and the win.
Connor Hedgepeth stopped five shots and picked up his first shutout for DelVal, which will host Penn State Brandywine on Tuesday, September 27 (7 p.m.).
