Box Score DOYLESTOWN (PA) – The Delaware Valley University men's soccer team battled back from an early two-goal deficit and finished in a 2-2, double-overtime tie with visiting Rosemont College in a non-conference game.
The deadlock moved the Aggies' record to 3-2-1 on the season while the Ravens moved to 1-3-2.
Rosemont needed just 40 seconds to get onto the scoreboard as Luis Castillo send a long pass that Kaushik Dhanyamraju caught up to for a breakaway. Dhanyamraju lofted a shot over the charging goalkeeper and into the net for the early advantage.
Two minutes later, the Ravens made it 2-0 as they were awarded a free kick and Emre Kasik blasted it home from about 25 yards out.
DelVal got one back with 8:01 remaining in the first half. Rosemont keeper Zach Bowe tried to corral a loose ball, but he misplayed it.
Nick Miller had the empty net and he deposited his third goal of the season.
It stayed that way for the next 48 minutes until the Aggies were awarded a penalty kick when a player was taken down in the box.
Patrick McCarthy came up from the defense to take the kick and he blasted it home for the game-tying tally.
Both teams had chances for the final 15:18 of regulation and the two, 10-minute overtime periods but neither could find the back of the twine. DelVal finished with a 24-19 edge in shots while both teams had five corner opportunities.
Connor Hedgepeth stopped nine shots for the Aggies and defender Evan Augsberger also stopped one from going in. Zach Bowe made six saves for the Ravens.
DelVal will host Immaculata University for a non-conference game on Saturday, September 17 (4 p.m.).
