Aggie Women Fall On Senior Day To FDU-Florham, Setting Up Rematch In Playoffs

Box Score DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Shalette Brown and FDU-Florham spoiled Delaware Valley University's Senior Day and its chance to finish in second place and earn a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom home playoff game as the Devils notched an 80-56 win on Saturday.

FDU-Florham, the three-time defending conference champions and 2014 national champions, improved to 19-6 overall and 11-3 in league play while the Aggies fell to 13-12 and 9-5. Had DelVal won, the team would have tied the Devils in the standings with the tiebreaker in its favor, resulting in a home semifinal contest.

Instead, the two teams will meet again, this time in Madison, New Jersey on Wednesday, February 24 (7:00 p.m.). It will be the third year in a row that the teams have faced each other in the semifinals, all on FDU-Florham's home court.

The Aggies honored seniors Eireann Anastasi and Kelsey Kilpatrick before the game, but it was FDU-Florham's senior in Brown who had the big day. She was 8-for-15 from the field and 12-for-14 from the line for 28 points. She also grabbed 22 rebounds and added three steals, two assists and two blocks.

Brown had six points in the opening quarter and her teammates combined to hit four treys as the Devils jumped out to a 22-10 lead. They continued their hot shooting in the second quarter and built their advantage to as many as 21 before taking a 40-21 lead into the intermission. FDU-Florham shot 51.6 percent from the field in the first half while the Aggies were 9-for-30 (30%), including just 2-for-14 (14.3%) from 3-point land.

DelVal tried to make a run and pulled to within 12, 48-36, in the third quarter as Anastasi and Kilpatrick combined to score four points in a row. However, the Devils responded with 11 of the next 14 points for a 59-39 advantage at the end of the quarter. DelVal never got closer than 17 in the fourth.

FDU-Florham was 8-for-23 (34.8%) from 3-point land while the Aggies were 3-for-26 (11.5%). In addition to Brown, Alyssa McDonough and Danielle Leguillo had 20 points apiece as they each hit four treys.

Anastasi finished with 18 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. In the process, she moved to within three points of becoming just the second player in program history to score 1,700 or more points in a career. Sam Foy added 16 points while Danielle Skedzielewski connected for 11 points. Kilpatrick finished with seven points in her home finale.
