Box Score RADNOR (PA) – The Delaware Valley University women's basketball team struggled offensively in a 67-35 non-conference loss at Cabrini College on Monday.
The Aggies dropped to 1-7 on the season and the Cavaliers are 3-4.
Junior
Sam Foy made a jumper with 6:33 left in the first quarter to put DelVal ahead by one (6-5). That was the last lead the Aggies had as Cabrini responded with eight straight points to go up 13-6. The Cavaliers began the second period with a 21-12 advantage but DelVal registered five of the first six points in the stanza to cut the deficit to five (22-17). Cabrini finished the half with a 15-4 run over the last 7:16 to lead 37-21 after the break. Senior Dana Peterson had 16 points for the Cavaliers and Aggie senior
Eireann Anastasi produced 11 points.
Cabrini continued its hot streak into the third quarter, putting up the first five points. After DelVal scored six of the next nine, the Cavaliers ended the period with a 7-2 spurt. Cabrini started the fourth with a 13-3 run to put the game away.
Peterson ended the contest with 19 points. Sophomore Kate Skalski followed with 10 and senior Kristina Startare contributed with eight. Junior Renee Oliver and sophomore Sabrina Hackendorn grabbed 10 and nine rebounds respectively.
The Cavaliers held the Aggies to just under 23 percent shooting (13-57) from the field. Anastasi led DelVal with 13 points while Foy chipped in with 10. Freshmen
Brianna Rivello and
Amber Grohowski brought down 11 and seven rebounds respectively.
Next, the Aggies travel to Gallaudet University for the Gallaudet Holiday Tournament. DelVal will take on Catholic University in the first round on Friday, December 11 (4:00 p.m.).
