DelVal Men Cruise To 85-50 Victory Over Immaculata

Box Score

DOYLESTOWN (PA) – The Delaware Valley University men's basketball team tied a school record with its ninth consecutive win as the Aggies cruised to an 85-50 victory over visiting Immaculata University in a non-conference game on Thursday night.

The Aggies matched the program mark that they set in 2012-13, en route to the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom championship that season. They are 9-1 on the current campaign while the Mighty Macs dropped to 2-6.

DelVal jumped out to an 11-1 lead in the first 6:31. Senior Zach Sly and junior Tyliek Kimbrough each had four points and senior Chris Moran nailed a three. The Aggies held a 24-11 advantage when Immaculata went on a 10-2 spurt to trail by five (26-21) with 8:06 left in the half. Junior Michael Griffin III tallied six of the 10 points on a pair of triples.

However, Delaware Valley followed with 16 of the next 22 to take command. Freshman Alex Matsinye drained back-to-back three-pointers, Moran and fellow senior Barry Brockington contributed five and four points respectively and Sly made a foul shot. The Aggies led 44-32 at the break. Moran had 14 points in the period.

Delaware Valley broke the game open in the second half, going on a 25-4 run at one point.

Moran ended the contest with a double-double, posting a game-high 26 points and 12 rebounds. He is now just six points shy of becoming the 20th 1,000-point scorer in program history. Brockington totaled 13 points and senior Matthew Gerner produced 10. Kimbrough dished seven assists.

For Immaculata, Griffin III tallied nine points while freshman Morgan Bailey grabbed seven rebounds.

Next, DelVal travels to Connecticut for the Trinity College Holiday Invitational. The Aggies face Pine Manor College in the first round on Wednesday, December 30 (7:00 p.m.).
