Aggie Women Drop Home Opener To Rosemont, 62-55

Box Score DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Rosemont College spoiled Delaware Valley University's home opener as the Ravens picked up their first win of the year with a 62-55, non-conference triumph.
 
The new four quarter format saw the Aggies (0-4) hold a 10-9 advantage after the first 10 minutes. DelVal then scored the first five points of the second quarter, including three from freshman Brianna Rivello for a six-point lead. Rosemont (1-3) responded with an 8-0 spurt to take a 17-15 lead. The Ravens built the advantage to four before taking a 23-20 lead into halftime.
 
The Aggies opened the second stanza with a 9-3 run, the last two coming on a layup by Rivello, for a 29-26 lead with 4:32 left in the quarter. However, that was their last advantage of the game as Rosemont scored 15 of the final 19 points of the third for a 41-33 score. Nadirah Anderson led the sport with eight points.
 
In the fourth, the Ravens upped their lead to as many as 14 on two separate occasions, the last coming on an Ayanna Thompson 3-pointer with 2:46 remaining that made it 58-44. DelVal made a final run and scored nine of the next 11, including five from Rivello, to cut its deficit to six, 59-53, with 45 seconds left. However, the Aggies could not get any closer and Rosemont had the win.
 
Both teams struggled from the field as the Ravens shot 21-for-58 (36.2 percent) while DelVal was 17-for-69 (24.6 percent). Rosemont hit four treys while the Aggies were just 1-for-15 from beyond the arc.
 
Thomson hit all four of the Ravens' 3-pointers as she finished with a game-high 24 points. Anderson notched 12 points and six rebounds while Brianna Macauley added 12 points and seven boards.
 
Rivello notched the first double-double of her young career as she ended the evening with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Danielle Skedzielewski and Sam Foy hit double figures with 13 and 11 points respectively. Eireann Anastasi was held to just eight points, but the senior moved into 10th place on the school's all-time scoring list with 1.263 points.
 
DelVal will host undefeated Goucher College (4-0) for a non-conference game on Monday, November 30.
