Box Score DOYLESTOWN (PA) – The Delaware Valley University men's soccer team ended its seven-game losing streak with a 3-0 shutout against the University of Valley Forge on Tuesday.
The Aggies sit at 5-12-1 while the Patriots dropped to 2-15.
DelVal took just 8:29 to get on the board. Freshman
Patrick McCarthy took a corner kick for the Aggies, which went off the goalkeeper's hands and into the left side of the net for McCarthy's third of the season. Senior
Peter Tantillo made it a two-goal game over nine minutes later. Sophomore
Austin Wilson sent a cross from left to right into the box. Freshman
Nick Miller headed the ball forward in the air and Tantillo directed it into the net.
Tantillo notched his second of the contest with 3:18 remaining in the second half to secure the victory. With the Aggies pressuring the ball in the box, junior
Max Drummond had a shot saved by the goalkeeper. Tantillo had a try on the rebound but that was also stopped. He stuck with the play and pounded the final bounce back into the cage.
Freshman
Connor Hedgepeth made two saves for his second shutout. Freshman Alan Verone Jr. stopped 14 shots for Valley Forge. DelVal controlled the match, outshooting the Patriots by a 27-3 margin.
The Aggies close the year at home against conference opponent King's College for Senior Night on Friday, October 30 (7:00 p.m.).
