Aggie Volleyball Suffers 3-0 Loss At FDU-Florham

MADISON (NJ) – The Delaware Valley University volleyball team suffered a 3-0 defeat at FDU-Florham in the penultimate Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom match of the season.

The Aggies dropped to 1-15 overall with a 0-6 conference mark. The Devils improved to 21-8 and they are 4-2 in the MAC Freedom.

The set scores were 25-10, 25-13 and 25-18. The first game was tied at two early on before FDU-Florham reeled off six straight points for an 8-2 advantage. With the score 10-5, the Devils had a streak of seven points to go up by 12. At 21-10, FDU-Florham registered the next four points to win the set.

The two teams went back and forth in the early going of the second set. With the Aggies down 9-8, the Devils tallied 13 of the next 15 points to lead 22-10 before going on to capture the game. Freshman Kristi Wong had five kills in the surge with sophomore Codi Inloes-Williams adding seven assists.

FDU-Florham continued its strong play in the third set, jumping out to an 11-4 advantage. The Aggies fought back with seven of the next eight to cut the deficit to one (12-11). The Devils recovered to snatch four of the next five points for a four-point cushion (16-12). DelVal came back with four straight to tie the game at 16. Sophomore Taylor Klecan recorded back-to-back service aces to tie it. However, FDU-Florham regained their composure, scoring nine of the next 11 to end the match.

Wong finished with eight kills followed by sophomore Natalie Knudsen with seven. Freshmen Lauren Harris and Kate Quinlan each had six kills. Inloes-Williams totaled 14 assists and sophomore Courtney Conte and Wong contributed nine and seven respectively. Freshman Nikole Meluso and Harris had 11 digs apiece.

Freshman Kourtney Campbell and Klecan led the Aggies with three kills apiece. Junior Nicole Daigneault produced six assists. Klecan had a team-high nine digs followed by freshman Jess Holster (seven), Daigneault (six) and Campbell (five).

DelVal hosts New Jersey City University in a non-conference match on Thursday, October 22 (7:00 p.m.).
