Box Score WILKES-BARRE (PA) –
Justin Mannato stopped three shots in net and scored one as he split time in goal and in the field for the Delaware Valley College men's soccer team despite a 3-1, road setback to Freedom Conference opponent King's College.
The Aggies dropped to 3-13-2 overall and 0-6 in league play while the Monarchs improved to 12-5-1 and 4-2 as they remained in contention for the conference tournament with one game left.
King's drew first blood just 7:25 into the contest when David Stroh found Kevin Hagmeier for the 1-0 advantage. Hagmeier then set up teammate Kevin Hopkins in the 39
th minute to give the Monarchs a two-goal advantage at halftime.
Mannato moved into the field, after spending the first half in goal, and got the Aggies on the board with an unassisted tally from the top of the box with 35:22 to play in regulation. However, nineteen minutes later, it was King's which earned a corner kick and Chris Nygren capitalized to seal the 3-1 victory.
Austin Brotman took over for Mannato in goal in the second and made two saves while Tyler Wilson played 90 minutes and registered two saves for the Monarchs.
The Aggies will wrap up their season with a Freedom Conference match-up at home against FDU-Florham next Saturday, November 1. Starting time for Senior Day is slated for 2:30 p.m.
