Box Score DOYLESTOWN (PA) – The Delaware Valley College volleyball team dropped a Freedom Conference contest in straight sets to visiting FDU-Florham despite three close finals of 25-16, 25-18 and 25-23.
The Aggies fell to 4-18 overall and 0-6 in league play while the Devils improved their marks to 16-17 and 3-3.
In the first set, the two teams battled back and forth to a 9-9 tie before FDU-Florham ripped off 16 of the final 23 points for the 25-16 win. The second set was another seesaw affair as the two squads were tied five times before the Devils went up 19-16. The Aggies managed to get the next two points to pull to within one. However, FDU-Florham's got the serve back and Avery Dravis-Stark stepped up to serve for five straight points and the 25-18 set.
In the final set, the Devils scored eight straight points with Dravis-Stark serving again to open a 14-6 advantage. Delaware Valley fought all the way back with six points of its own to make it 20-18 late in the set. FDU-Florham led 24-20 with three match point chances, but
Crystal Ronan's served helped the Aggies cut the lead to one. However, the Devils finished the match on a Melissa Gaffney kill.
Maria Cameron led Delaware Valley with 11 kills and 14 digs while
Gina Page had eight kills. Ronan added 23 assists, 10 digs and five service aces.
Gaffney led all players with 18 kills on the night and Codi Inloes-Williams had a match-high 30 assists.
