Box Score DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Misericordia University scored two goals in a four-minute span early in the second half as the Cougars pulled away to a 3-0, Freedom Conference win over host Delaware Valley College.
Misericordia, which has been to the NCAA Division III playoff in five of the last six years and receiving votes in this season's regional rankings, improved to 8-4-2 overall and 2-0 in the Freedom. The Aggies, who were celebrating their Homecoming on Saturday, fell to 3-9-2 overall and 0-2 in the league.
The game was scoreless late in the first stanza when Misericordia struck. A crossing pass was headed to David Malaquias who headed the ball into the net with 5:10 left on the clock.
Then 8:55 into the second half, the Cougars went up 2-0 as Nate Mansfield had a diving header off a Niko Amity cross. Shortly after, Amith blasted one into the net to end the game's scoring.
Misericordia held a 28-4 advantage in shots and 6-0 in corner kicks. Freshman
Austin Brotman made 11 saves for Delaware Valley while Barry Fitzgerald had one stop at the other end.
