Box Score DALLAS (PA) – Misericordia University went on a 14-4 run over the final six minutes of the game as the host Cougars pulled away to a 61-50, Freedom Conference victory over Delaware Valley College.
The Aggies (9-14, 3-9) trailed by seven, 29-22, at halftime, and were down by as many as eight in the second stanza. They were still behind by six at the midway point when they scored eight of the next 10 to tie it up at 43-43 with 8:05 remaining. Freshman
Eireann Anastasi had four of the eight points in the spurt for Delaware Valley.
Sam Baro hit a 3-pointer for Misericordia (11-12, 5-7) and Hannah Seely followed with a free throw on the next possession for a four-point advantage. Freshman
Kelsey Kilpatrick responded with a trey of her own for the Aggies to make it a 47-46 game as the clock hit the six-minute mark.
However, the rest of the game belonged to the defending conference champions, starting with a trey by Tyann McDaniel. The teams traded baskets before Nikki Baro hit a big basket inside while being fouled. She completed the three-point play and, after a Delaware Valley turnover, Seely drove to the hoop and scored for a 57-58 Cougar lead with 1:39 remaining. They scored four of the final six points for 61-50 final.
Seely led all scorers with 20 points and she also added 13 rebounds. McDaniel hit for 14 points in the win.
Sophomore
Brenna Coll paced the Aggies with 14 points and 15 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season. Kilpatrick hit three from 3-point land off the bench and finished with 11 points. Senior
Emily Soper had nine points and eight rebounds before fouling out and, in the process, became just the eighth player in Delaware Valley women's basketball history to reach the 1,300-point plateau (1,300).
